Spring is Here!

Warm weather is finally here. This is the time of year to really make use of and enjoy your outdoor space. If your landscape is like most, it’s time to do a little sprucing up.

Mulch should be 3 inches deep around your trees and shrubs. A great alternative to mulch is pine straw. It is easier to put down, and will give your landscape a natural feel.

It’s also a good time to install new trees, shrubs, and lawns. Be sure to keep new plants watered. Gator bags are good options if you do not have an irrigation system. If you’ll be planting grass, May is the time to plant warm weather grasses, such as Bermuda.

Water features can be great additions to landscapes. Rock bubblers, ponds, and fountains give a serene quality to any garden. Landscape Outfitters can work with your budget to create a beautiful water feature that will make your outdoor space beautiful and calming.
Happy Spring!

Tips for May

1) Water, Water, Water! Knoxville can be very hot and dry. Protect your investment by
watering your plants frequently.
2) Consider using plants that are native to Tennessee. They’ll give your landscape a natural
feel, and will be more likely to hold up to Knoxville’s climate. Some examples are Oakleaf
Hydrangea, River Birch, and Azaleas.
3) Make sure your mulch is at least 3 inches deep. You’ll need it to protect plants from drought.
4) Want to attract butterflies? Consider adding Virginia Sweetspire or Azaleas to your garden.
